Parent Tip: Community Resources

   There have been several requests for parents looking for resources that are not only "child-friendly", but "special-needs child" friendly. These were the local resources that were sent to us by parents. Please feel freel to contact us if you would like to add additional resources.

    Works really well w/ kids on the spectrum; has dedicated days/times she sees special needs children.  Also, flat screen TVs on ceiling to distract children during cleaning/exams.

  9. Respite – Loving Hands Ministry at First Methodist Church in Coppell

    Monthly FREE 3-hr respite provided to children with special needs and their siblings with structured activities, crafts, sensory toys, etc.  Special needs children are assigned a buddy for the evening.  All volunteers are screened annually.  Volunteers consist of church members, an OT, a Girl Scout Troop (this is their monthly service project), and a paid aide and paid Registered Nurse. Only nurse takes children to restroom.  Do not have to be church member to participate.

  12. Offers Adapted Aquatics Class (one-on-one swim instruction for special needs children - great for children who are deep-pressure seekers).  If non-member, approximately $50/month; if member, approximately $40/month.
