DFW Center for Autism's Family Support Course & Full Scholarships
The DFW Center for Autism's Family Support Courses are now being scheduled. Full scholarships are available.
The Family Support Course is a service developed specifically for families and for use in the home and community. Included in this service is individualized training to ensure successful implementation of behavioral strategies in the home and community. The strategies learned through training can then be utilized with children with developmental disabilities
to build basic functional skills, most importantly being communicative behaviors that can replace and alleviate maladaptive behaviors. Parents and other participating
family members will additionally gain the knowledge and experience
necessary to utilize measurement systems to evaluate progress. This
training is derived from the principles of ABA and incorporates the highly
successful and empirically validated naturalistic treatment strategies
known as Pivotal Response Treatment, developed through 20 years of
research by Drs. Lynn and Robert Koegel at the University of California at
Santa Barbara.
The course begins with a workshop-style lesson of the principles of ABA
and naturalistic-styles of treatment addressing:
* Empirical support and basic principles of ABA
* Motivation
* Communication
* Challenging behaviors
* Pivotal Response Treatment
* Individualized video feedback & follow up
The DFW Center for Autism has received a training grant that is making it
feasible to offer this course for 65% OFF
Our 4-day Group Family Support Course is now

Schedule Your Course Today
All of our Family Support Courses include workshop-style lessons and
video taped examples. Families, caregivers, teachers and professionals
will also participate in guided practice with session by session
feedback.
The Group Family Support Course may be scheduled any 4 consecutive days
(5hrs/day), Monday-Friday between 8:00am- 6:00pm.
Our Individual Family Support Course may be scheduled any 3 or 5
consecutive days (3hrs or 5hrs/day), Monday-Friday between 8:00am- 6:00pm.
*some weekends may be available
