New Program at the BWF!
Communication and Life Skills Progam
(CALS)
Open to children ages 7-10 years of age. This program will primarily focus on children with communication and learning challenges who have made minimal progress within special educational environments and who require individualized intensive teaching. Our principal focus is on functional communication skills. Expressive communication may include vocal and/or augmentative/alternative communication systems. Receptive communication will focus on the child's ability to understand their environment. Our secondary focus will be promoting the cognitive skills necessary to function within an everyday environment.
The CALS program will utilize the principals of ABA within a highly individualized program providing children with the structure, repetition, and high levels of reinforcement and prompting necessary to be most successful. Baseline assessments will be administered upon program entry. Periodic assessments will be conducted to track progress and post testing will be completed upon exit. Children aging out of the program will be provided with resources most appropriate for their specific needs. Parent participation is an integral part of this program. 1-3 hours per month of direct parent training and participation will be required for entry into this program. We will begin enrolling January 4, 2010. There is limited availability so if you are interested in more information regarding the CALS program please email Tracy at tracy@woodallkids.org.
