Social Skills Group for 13 year olds!
The BWF has started a new social skills group to address adolescent issues. This pilot group of 13 year olds will consist of a maximum of six students who will work together three times per month for one hour over one year. This small group will focus on learning appropriate social skills and self-management techniques to successfully navigate the social world as an adolescent. Parents and Care Givers will be given an opportunity every two months to participate in the group to learn and understand what their children are working on and how they can reinforce these skills at home. The students will work weekly on “group homework” in which they will be responsible for practicing appropriate social skills and self-manage these skills over the week. This social skills group is open to students with Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, and other mild developmental disabilities.
