Oral-Motor Therapy: Assessment and Program Plan
Development
Presented by: Renee Roy Hill, MS, CCC-SLP
Learn how to perform a comprehensive assessment for
clients with oral-motor, sensory, feeding and/or
speech disorders. These principles follow Sara
Rosenfeld-Johnson’s hierarchical approach to
assessment and treatment. This class will lead you,
step-by-step, through the assessment process used
with clients of varying ages and skill levels.
Participants will observe three complete diagnostic
sessions and will learn how to assess oral-motor
speech deficits and develop a program plan. This
seminar is based on techniques presented in “A Three
Part Treatment Plan for Oral-Motor Therapy”. A
thorough familiarity with these concepts is highly
recommended in order to receive the maximum benefit.
Feeding Therapy: A Sensory-Motor
Approach
Presented by: Lori Overland, MS, CCC-SLP
Frustrated with clients who don’t have intact
sensory systems? Lori will show you a step-by-step
approach to teach your most challenging clients
tolerance of touch, enabling them to learn to eat
and develop appropriate oral-motor movements. Day 1
focuses on promoting acceptance of touch for
therapeutic feeding and oral stimulation and
movement. Her techniques incorporate a variety of
temperatures, textures and tastes. Day 2 features
hands-on learning of techniques for spoon feeding,
straw drinking and chewing solid foods. Leave this
workshop with therapeutic feeding techniques you can
use with confidence the next day.
Level 1: A Three-Part Treatment Plan for Oral-Motor
Therapy
Presented by: Renee Roy Hill, MS, CCC-SLP
Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson’s innovative tactile-sensory
approach to speech therapy uses therapy tools to
train and transition muscle movements for speech
production. Learn how 40 highly motivating motor
activities can be used to improve phonation,
resonation, and speech clarity. Interactive,
hands-on demonstrations will focus on
therapeutically sound techniques to develop
oral-motor movements for improved speech clarity.
Muscles of the abdomen, velum, jaw, lips, and tongue
will be discussed within the parameters of movements
necessary for speech production. Developmentally
appropriate motor movements for speech are
therapeutically targeted using highly motivating
techniques appropriate for children and adults.
