Fabian has learned to enjoy group activities…

Fabian is a 3-year-old boy with Autism, who lives with his parents in the community of Barlad, Romania. When we first met Fabian, in October of 2004, he did not have any language or play skills. He was not able to follow even simple instructions, and could not verbalize his wants. Although he enjoyed playing with some toys, such as cars or trains, he would never interact with other children, or participate in simple group activities, such as song games. Upon receiving ABA and speech therapy on a daily basis, through Cristi's Outreach Foundation, Fabian has made great progress. He is now able to understand and follow simple instructions given to him by his therapists or parents. He also loves to look at pictures in books and asks adults to label everything that he sees. Fabian has recently began to name objects in his environment, and verbally request some of his favorite things. More important, he now enjoys group activities, during which he sings and shares books and toys with other children his age. Fabian's consistent progress is extremely encouraging, as this increases his chances of learning more naturally and becoming more independent.
