First United
Methodist Church of Denton—After School Program
First United Methodist Church of Denton is working
diligently to develop an after school program for
kids in kindergarten through fifth grade that
successfully includes children with special needs.
The concept behind the program is comprehensive care
for all children. There are 6 classrooms and a game
room we need to renovate and lots of really fun
ideas to get us started.
The program will focus on cooperative play,
multi-sensory learning, and building functional
skills for the future. The children will be able to
explore many different environments while nurturing
natural talents and expanding their knowledge and
interests.
They are in need of all kinds of donations to get
this unique and exciting program started. If you
have the ability to provide toys, money, design
ideas, building materials, or labor, they would be
very appreciative. If you would like to participate
in a chocolate bar fundraiser, we are selling boxes
of King-sized Hershey’s© Milk Chocolate bars (2.6
ounces) with decorative wrappers for $36. Each box
contains 18 chocolate bars which can be sold at your
school or workplace for $2 each. All proceeds go to
revitalize and expand the after-school program at
FUMC-Denton.
