Fundatia Cristi's Outreach este o ramura a Brent Woodall Foundation for Exceptional Children din Statele Unite ale Americii care ofera gratuit expertiza tehnica educatie si terapie pentru copii
cu nevoi speciale (Autism, Sindromul Down, alte deficiente de dezvoltare) in varsta de pana la sase ani. Copiii cu deficiente de dezvoltare prezinta anumite deficite in comportament (intarzierea sau lipsa limbajului expresiv si/sau receptiv, intarzieri in domeniul dezvoltarii sociale, comportamente agresive etc.). Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) este singurul tip de interventie terapeutica sustinuta stintific prin dovezi empirice prin care se pot invata deprinderi cu ajutorul carora pot fi invinse aceste deficite comportamentale.

Cand am deschis centrul nostru terapeutic din Barlad in anul 2001, ABA era o tehnica necunoscuta in Romania. Copiilor cu Autism si/sau alte deficiente de dezvoltare li se dadeau foarte putine sperante, sau chiar nici o speranta, de a progresa, si multi dintre ei erau abandonati sau plasati in institutii.

Cristi's Outreach Foundation is a branch of the Brent Woodall Foundation for Exceptional Children based is the USA, which provides free technical expertise, education and therapy for children with special needs (i.e. Autism, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disorders) between birth to six years in age. Children with developmental disabilites often have serious behavioral deficits (i.e. no or limited expressive / receptive language, limited social skills, tantrum behaviors, etc.) Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the only intervention empirically proven to teach a variety of skills to overcome defecits. The therapy involves a breaking down of skills into small, discrete and measurable tasks that are taught through a highly structured clincal method.

When we first opened our therapeutic center in Barlad in 2001, ABA was an unknown concept in Romania. Children with Autism and/or other developmental disabilites were given little to no hope of making any progress and many of them were either abandoned or placed in institutions.
